Not sure whether this should go in Rhostudio section but build.yml refers to a sailfish setting. What exactly is sailfish and what is it required for. Any current devices supporting this or is it for legacy purposes?

Sailfish OS is an open alternative mobile OS. It is targeted for developing markets like Russia, India, China and Latin America, specifically for enterprise and government sectors. There are some devices which are natively distributed with this OS, and existing Android devices can also be updated to support it - actually Tau have already supported it for some Chinese vendors devices. We will announce Sailfish support in RhoMobile 7.

Hmm, I suppose its this : sailfishos.orgHave to explore more, but why have you decided to support it? Is it because it can be used on feature phones too or is it better than Android or simply because of the huge potential market in these countries? Keywords seem to be independence, regional licensing and innovative services. Have to get myself a Jolla! |

I see Sailfish also as having some interest by Enterprises world-wide, which in many cases would like complete control of the device. This is counter to the trend of "bring your own device" in enterprise, but I think the trend also pushes in two directions. That is, enterprises may choose either the convenience of "bring your own device" or the complete control of "company-issued" device. Now they have a choice to issue devices in security-critical applications (with Sailfish) without having to rely on unknown/unexamined code supplied by third-parties, and user convenience of bring your own (with mainstream consumer OS) for less critical applications.
Good to see Rhodes adopting a new operating system, it's a good sign for extending product lifetime.
We've an interest in deploying to BRIC countries, but I doubt Sailfish will be a significant concern, as ours is an educational market. Of course, if it becomes e.g. a major OS player in China outside of enterprise and government, this will be a plus!
